There are three common methods for treating presbyopia:

The first and most common treatment used for presbyopia correction is the use of glasses. There are three main types of glasses: reading glasses, which are used to magnify what is in front of the person; bifocals, which are used to divide near and far vision; and progressive lenses, which are used when helping an individual to move very slowly from one eyeglasses prescription type to another.

The second common treatment would be the use of contact lenses. As with the glasses, contact lenses can also be split into three groups: bifocal lenses, which have the same function as the bifocal glasses; monovision contact lenses, which have a rather complicated function (they enable you to use your most dominant eye for for long distance vision and your weaker eye for closer vision); and finally, multifocal lenses, which enabling an individual to focus on multiple points.

The third most common treatment for presbyopia is Monovision Lasik. This treatment is also used to correct other visual problems such as myopia, hyperopia and astigmatism. But this treatment cannot actually cure presbyopia as it is not caused by problems in the corneal curvature. The only way that this treatment can help with this problem is if it is treated differently on each eye.

Treating both eyes differently will decrease this problem and it is done by treating the person’s most dominant eye for long distance vision and leaving the persons other eye for short distance vision. So when the person is focusing on a certain object the brain will begin to relearn how to process the information.
