It is pretty common knowledge that in order to build stronger, healthier muscles one must exercise their muscles in order to do so. However, did you ever think that your eyes are also muscles, and can benefit just as much from exercises? Here is a simple set of simple and effective eye exercises to improve vision, and strengthen weak eyes. I myself wear contacts and glasses. I became curious about these exercises, and decided to check them out. Here are my top six exercises that can be practiced daily in order to strengthen the eyes, and improve vision.

1. The first step typically referred to as “palming”. With this exercise, you simply place the palms of your hands over both eyes so that no light shines through. Then the eyes are able to relax, and almost reset themselves in a way. Keep the palms there for at least a minute, then remove them to refreshed feeling eyes.

2. A second equally simple exercise is take ten minutes breaks periodically during up close work done on a computer. While continuously focusing on a computer, your eyes become used to looking at the screen right in front of you, and it becomes slightly more difficult for them to focus on things that are further away. This exercise requires you to simply take a break for 10 minutes and focus on things that are further away from you, to help your eyes readjust to focusing on things in the distance as well as right in front of you.

3. A third exercise can be practiced when your eyes are feeling tired and dry. Squeeze your eyes shut for 5 seconds at a time, and repeat this 5 times. This exercise allows your eyes to build up tears to moisten your <a href="http://www.visioncorrectionblog.com/dry-eyes/"title="Dry Eyes" >dry eyes, helps to wake them up.

4. The next exercise helps to build up the actual muscles of your eyes. Move your eyes in slow clockwise circles about 6 or 7 times, then repeat the process in counterclockwise circles. This helps to loosen up stiff feeling eyes, and builds up your ocular muscles.

5. Massaging the eye area is also a very beneficial eye exercise. By lightly massaging the eye socket ridges, as well as your temples, you are allowing more blood flow to the eyes. This helps your eyes to receive more oxygen, which gives you clearer vision.

6. A final step that must be taken in order to improve vision and strengthen your eyes involves proper nutrition. Just like a body builder needs protein to build strong muscles, your eyes also need the proper amounts of vitamins and nutrients to grow stronger and healthier.

Following these simple eye exercises will definitely give you stronger eyes, and help improve your vision. Trust me, your eyes will thank you for it.

Many people wish they could somehow get better eyesight. Others can not afford to purchase <a href="http://www.visioncorrectionblog.com/contact-lenses/"title="Contact Lenses" >contact lenses or new eyeglasses. Whatever the case, there are plenty of ways people can work to restore and improve their eyesight in natural ways. This article will discuss ways to improve your eyesight naturally.

First off, a person should always be sure to form good eye habits. Forming good eye habits is one of the easiest ways to improve your eyesight. To form good eye habits, a person should consciously make the effort to blink a few times while reading or doing computer work. Blinking helps to prevent dryness to the eyes, which is a major cause of poor eyesight. In addition, if a person does a lot of computer work, then he or she should make sure to always keep his or her eyes at least an arm’s length away from a computer screen.

Another piece of advice to improve one’s eyesight is to be gentle with the eyes and eye region. All too often, people do not realize that they rub their eyes when they are exhausted. Rubbing one’s eyes can be a major contributor to poor eyesight. A person should refrain from touching the eyes or areas surrounding the eyes. The tissue surrounding eyes is very sensitive and can be easily damaged. A person should take great care to be gentle with the eye region.

There are certain nutrients and minerals a person can consume to improve eyesight as well. Drinking cucumber juice can truly have a great impact upon improving eyesight. In addition, eating grapes and consuming Vitamin A can also work to help improve one’s eyesight. Even blueberry juice has been recommended by many doctors as helpful for improving eyesight in a natural way.

A person should be sure to try to exercise his or her eyes on a daily basis, by moving them in all directions. All too often, people can simply look ahead throughout the day and forget to move their eyes to the sides. Moving one’s eyes to the sides allows a person to moisturize the eyes, so that they do not become dried out. Another way to improve eyesight is by becoming less dependent on glasses. By not wearing glasses as much, a person’s eyes will naturally improve as a survival mechanism.

Overall, these are just a few ways any person can improve eyesight in a natural way.

Many people who are planning to have PRK surgery may think that post-op recovery is the same as <a href="http://www.visioncorrectionblog.com/lasik-eye-surgery/"title="LASIK Eye Surgery" >Lasik recovery. This is not true, as PRK recovery time is longer and there are other important post-op instructions that must be followed. Most eye surgeons will require numerous follow-up office examinations. The usual schedule for office visits after PRK surgery is 24 hours, 4 days, 1 week, 1 month, 3 months, 6 months and then once a year. If there are any complications from the procedure, office visits could be more frequent. During PRK surgery recovery, patients will be instructed to refrain from any strenuous activities for usually a month following the procedure. Patients will also be instructed to refrain from using any facial lotions, creams or makeup for at least 2 weeks immediately following PRK.

Upon completion of the PRK eye surgery, the surgeon will apply bandage contact lens that must remain on until the surgeon removes them. This is usually done four days after the procedure, during the second follow-up visit. Patients during PRK surgery recovery will also be given steroid drops and antibiotic drops that must be used diligently to prevent infection and minimize any possible complications. Patients should expect to be using these <a href="http://www.visioncorrectionblog.com/eye-drops/"title="Eye Drops" >eye drops for at least four months. The proper healing process is imperative for the desired correction to occur. Unlike Lasik, PRK recovery timeline is long. Patients are usually advised to avoid any activities for at least two days following the procedure. They may also experience pain and may need a pain medication for relief. Since vision will fluctuate after surgery, many people become alarmed. This is quite normal, as is hazy vision, which can last up to six months following PRK eye surgery.

Although most individuals who have PRK experience good results, there are some risks involved with this procedure. Some people may experience vision distortion, irregular <a href="http://www.visioncorrectionblog.com/astigmatism/"title="What is Astigmatism?" >astigmatism, glaucoma or a more common side effect of haziness. This condition is usually due to patients with aggressive healing processes where corneal scars develop causing the haze. Proper screening and the use of eye drops can often reduce this risk. If the surgery causes overcorrection or under correction, patients may need a second surgery called PRK enhancement to correct this.

Most patients who choose to have PRK can expect to have 20/40 vision afterwards. This improvement in vision can allow drivers who were required by law to wear glasses before surgery to eliminate this need. Other patients may still need glasses, but the new pair will not need to be as strong. Patients who have PRK before the age of 40 should be advised that if they develop presbyopia later in life, they might require the need for <a href="http://www.visioncorrectionblog.com"title="Vision Correction" >vision correction for reading or doing close-up work.

Many people today suffer from vision impairments. There are many different <a href="http://www.visioncorrectionblog.com/common-vision-problems-and-tips-for-prevention/"title="Vision Problems" >vision problems that people can suffer from. Some of the more common types of vision problems are farsightedness, nearsightedness, glaucoma, <a href="http://www.visioncorrectionblog.com/astigmatism/"title="What is Astigmatism?" >astigmatism, cataracts and many others.

Vision problems can be caused by a multitude of things such as disease, stress, tension, injury and even pregnancy can affect vision. Vision depends on light and the way in which light is received and processed inside the eye. Any variation of the processing of light causes vision to be off.

Glasses, surgery and contacts are the most common types of <a href="http://www.visioncorrectionblog.com"title="Vision Correction" >vision correction used today. There are natural methods available however; the natural methods are not guaranteed to fix the problems. The most logical is to visit the eye doctor regularly and see what he or she recommends.

There are other eye problems that people need to be aware of especially those that work on computers. Eyestrain is very common and symptoms include eye fatigue, headache, and sometimes a pulling sensation. Eyestrain happens when people focus on something for to long; so taking breaks every so often are good. Some other eye problems include <a href="http://www.visioncorrectionblog.com/dry-eyes/"title="Dry Eyes" >dry eyes, conjunctivitis, night blindness and color blindness.

Safety can be an important factor in protecting the eyes. A person should always take precautions when doing anything that could affect the eyes. Wearing safety goggles when working or <a href="http://www.visioncorrectionblog.com/sunglasses/"title="Sunglasses - Reviews and Ratings" >sunglasses when in the sun is a good start. Injuries to the eyes can cause more damage than a person could ever imagine.

Many times vision is taken for granted, until something happens to take our perfect vision away. Some vision problems can be easily corrected and prevented while others may need long term assistance. Do not take your eye sight for granted, be sure to keep a check for any vision problems and visit the eye doctor on a regular basis.

Many people have vision impairments. Glasses have been around for centuries to help improve and provide clearer vision. There are many that would prefer not to have to wear any type of corrective lenses or have surgery to correct <a href="http://www.visioncorrectionblog.com/common-vision-problems-and-tips-for-prevention/"title="Vision Problems" >vision problems. There is a method known as The Bates Method which is a form of natural <a href="http://www.visioncorrectionblog.com"title="Vision Correction" >vision correction.

William Bates pioneered The Bates method back in 1919. He did a lot of studies trying to find an all natural way to improve vision. <a href="http://www.visioncorrectionblog.com/natural-vision-correction-the-beginning/"title="Natural Vision Correction" >Natural vision correction is based on the theory that tension and mental stress promote refractive errors. Bates believed if the eyes are relaxed and reconditioned vision will improve.

Bates believed that glasses promoted further deterioration of the eyes and prevented natural healing. Glasses put additional strain on the eyes. Therefore, Bates stopped prescribing glasses for his clients and started using his natural vision correction methods. Many of his patients confirmed that the “eye exercises” really worked and improved their vision.

The eye exercises that were used helped to train coordination and flexibility. Pinhole glasses where created on the basis of light travels in a straight line. These glasses are supposed to help focus sharper images on the retina. They strengthen the muscles and nerves in the brain and vision system to help see well. The pinhole glasses also help develop good vision habits.

Relaxed central vision is a key to natural eyesight improvement according to the Bates Method. However, natural vision correction is not recognized by the American Optometric Association. Accredited colleges and universities do not teach the Bates Method and it is not recognized in ophthalmology or optometry.

People that practice natural vision correction usually is not a licensed professional however; some licensed professionals may practice natural correction on the side. The plus side of this non-invasive, holistic method is that it is all natural and does not require corrective lenses or surgery. There are no risk in trying natural vision correction methods but do not be disappointed if it does not work.
